Plumber in Trion, GA

Trion is the mill village north of Summerville, about thirty-five minutes up Highway 27 from the Rome shop. We cover Trion as part of the same Chattooga County route that runs through Summerville, and most of the work is mill-era housing tightly clustered around Mount Vernon Mills.

About the area

Why we know the houses here

Trion is a true mill town. Mount Vernon Mills (the old Trion Factory, later Riegel Textile, now one of the largest denim plants in the world) sits in the middle of everything, and most of the houses in town were built as mill housing to put workers walking distance from the plant. That means small lots, tight setbacks, cast iron drains under wood floors, galvanized supply that has been in the wall for eighty years, and crawlspaces that were never meant for a full-height plumber. Outside the village, the work mix gets more rural: well-water systems, propane appliances, and longer service lines along the Chattooga River and the Highway 27 corridor. Chattooga County permitting goes through the County Codes Department in Summerville, the same office that handles our Summerville jobs.

Recent jobs
  • Repipes in mill village houses

Mill houses in Trion still have a lot of the original galvanized supply in the wall and cast iron in the floor. We cut, repipe in copper or PEX depending on the run, and pressure-test before the wall closes back up. The crawlspaces are short, so most of the work goes in flat on your back, and that is fine.

  • Water heaters and gas appliances

Same calls as anywhere else: the tank gave up, the pilot will not stay lit, the new range needs a gas line. Trion mill houses often have water heaters tucked into closets or crawlspaces with copper supply that has not been touched since installation. We carry standard tank sizes on the truck and run new supply where the existing line cannot pass code.

  • Crawlspace work and behind-the-wall fixes

Mill village crawlspaces are tight. Joist bays are shallow, the runs were patched in over decades, and a leak that started at the bib finally shows up at the kitchen ceiling. We trace it back, replace the failed section, and pressure-test the run before the drywall closes.

Neighborhoods we serve in Trion

A short list of the parts of town where we have done recent work. Yours is probably included even if it is not named.

  • Mill village core

Historic mill housing tightly clustered around Mount Vernon Mills and along the streets running off the plant. Small lots, shared walls of an era, cast iron drains, galvanized supply, and crawlspaces low enough that the work goes in flat on your back.

  • Highway 27 corridor

Houses spread along US-27 on the east side of town, running south toward Summerville and north toward LaFayette. Mixed older housing and newer infill, with longer service lines from the meter to the house where the lots open up.

  • Chattooga River frontage

Homes along the Chattooga River where it runs through town. Riverbottom soil affects drainage on the lower lots, and the older houses set back along the banks come with the usual mix of crawlspace plumbing and add-on supply runs.

The Chattooga County route

Thirty-five minutes up Highway 27, past Summerville.

Trion is on the same route as Summerville, just five miles farther north on Highway 27. About thirty-five minutes from the Rome shop. The town is built around Mount Vernon Mills (the old Trion Factory), and most of the housing stock came with the plant. We work the mill village houses, the rural lots along the river, and the spread-out properties up the corridor toward LaFayette. Chattooga County permits go through the County Codes Department in Summerville, same office that handles every other job we pull in the county.

Trion questions

Regularly. Trion is on the same Chattooga County route as Summerville, so we are up Highway 27 most weeks. The drive from Rome runs about thirty-five minutes, and we batch Trion jobs into the same trips as Summerville to keep the schedule efficient.
